Keychron K8 OS Switch
Switch to Mac Mode: Toggle switch → Mac — Flip the physical toggle switch on the left side to Mac position. Top row keys default to media/system functions (Brightness, Mission Control, Launchpad, etc.).
Switch to Windows Mode: Toggle switch → Win — Flip the physical toggle switch on the left side to Windows position. Top row keys default to standard F1-F12.
Toggle F-keys / Multimedia (Mac): Fn + K + C (hold 3s) — In Mac mode, swap the default behavior of top row keys between multimedia functions and standard F1-F12. Primarily affects F5 and F6 keys.
Toggle F-keys / Multimedia (Windows): Fn + X + L (hold 3s) — In Windows mode, swap the default behavior of top row keys between standard F1-F12 and multimedia functions.
Keychron K8 Bluetooth
Switch to Bluetooth Mode: Toggle switch → Bluetooth — Flip the connection toggle switch to the Bluetooth position (rightmost). The keyboard enters wireless mode.
Switch to Wired Mode: Toggle switch → Cable — Flip the connection toggle switch to the Cable position (leftmost). The keyboard connects via USB-C cable.
Pair Device 1: Fn + 1 (hold 3s) — Enter Bluetooth pairing mode for device slot 1. The Bluetooth indicator LED flashes rapidly. Complete pairing on your device within 3 minutes.
Pair Device 2: Fn + 2 (hold 3s) — Enter Bluetooth pairing mode for device slot 2.
Pair Device 3: Fn + 3 (hold 3s) — Enter Bluetooth pairing mode for device slot 3.
Switch to Device 1: Fn + 1 — Switch Bluetooth connection to previously paired device in slot 1.
Switch to Device 2: Fn + 2 — Switch Bluetooth connection to previously paired device in slot 2.
Switch to Device 3: Fn + 3 — Switch Bluetooth connection to previously paired device in slot 3.
Check Battery Level: Fn + B — Display current battery level via the backlight indicators. Green = high, blue = medium, red = low.
Keychron K8 Lighting
Toggle Backlight: Fn + Light Effect Key — Turn the backlight on or off. The Light Effect Key is located at the top-right area of the keyboard.
Cycle Lighting Effects: Light Effect Key — Press the Light Effect Key to cycle through available backlight effects.
Increase Brightness: Fn + F5 (Mac) / F5 key (Mac default) — Increase the keyboard backlight brightness. In Mac mode, the F5 key directly controls keyboard backlight brightness.
Decrease Brightness: Fn + F6 (Mac) / F6 key (Mac default) — Decrease the keyboard backlight brightness. In Mac mode, the F6 key directly controls keyboard backlight brightness.
Next Backlight Color: Fn + Right Arrow — Change the backlight color forward (RGB version only). Cycles through available colors.
Previous Backlight Color: Fn + Left Arrow — Change the backlight color backward (RGB version only). Cycles through available colors.
Increase Effect Speed: Fn + = — Speed up the current lighting animation effect.
Decrease Effect Speed: Fn + - — Slow down the current lighting animation effect.
Lock/Unlock Light Effect: Fn + L + Light Effect Key (hold 3s) — Lock or unlock the current backlight effect. When locked, pressing the Light Effect Key will not change the effect.
Caps Lock as Status Indicator: Fn + Caps Lock + P (hold 6s) — Decouple the Caps Lock key from the backlight mode. After activation, Caps Lock LED only indicates capital/lowercase letter status instead of following the backlight effect.
Keychron K8 Fn Layer (Mac)
F1: Fn + Brightness Down — Output standard F1 key. The top row key defaults to Screen Brightness Down in Mac mode.
F2: Fn + Brightness Up — Output standard F2 key. The top row key defaults to Screen Brightness Up in Mac mode.
F3 (Mission Control): Fn + Mission Control — Output standard F3 key. The top row key defaults to Mission Control in Mac mode.
F4 (Launchpad): Fn + Launchpad — Output standard F4 key. The top row key defaults to Launchpad in Mac mode.
F7: Fn + Previous Track — Output standard F7 key. The top row key defaults to Previous Track in Mac mode.
F8: Fn + Play/Pause — Output standard F8 key. The top row key defaults to Play/Pause in Mac mode.
F9: Fn + Next Track — Output standard F9 key. The top row key defaults to Next Track in Mac mode.
F10: Fn + Mute — Output standard F10 key. The top row key defaults to Mute in Mac mode.
F11: Fn + Volume Down — Output standard F11 key. The top row key defaults to Volume Down in Mac mode.
F12: Fn + Volume Up — Output standard F12 key. The top row key defaults to Volume Up in Mac mode.
Screenshot: Screen Capture key — The dedicated Screen Capture key triggers macOS screenshot (equivalent to Cmd+Shift+4). Located in the F-row area.
Keychron K8 Fn Layer (Windows)
Decrease Screen Brightness: Fn + F1 — Decrease the display brightness.
Previous Track: Fn + F7 — Skip to the previous track in media player.
Play / Pause: Fn + F8 — Toggle play/pause in media player.
Next Track: Fn + F9 — Skip to the next track in media player.
Mute: Fn + F10 — Mute or unmute system audio.
Volume Down: Fn + F11 — Decrease system volume.
Volume Up: Fn + F12 — Increase system volume.
Keychron K8 Special
Factory Reset: Fn + J + Z (hold 3s) — Reset the keyboard to factory defaults. Hold all three keys for 3 seconds. The backlight will flash to confirm the reset. All custom settings will be erased.
Toggle Auto Sleep Mode: Fn + S + O (hold 3s) — Enable or disable Auto Sleep Mode. By default, the keyboard enters sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity in Bluetooth mode to save battery.
Set Auto Sleep to 10 Minutes: Fn + S + L + R (hold 3s) — Set the auto-sleep timer to 10 minutes of inactivity.
Set Auto Sleep to 20 Minutes: Fn + S + L + T (hold 3s) — Set the auto-sleep timer to 20 minutes of inactivity.
Set Auto Sleep to 30 Minutes: Fn + S + L + Y (hold 3s) — Set the auto-sleep timer to 30 minutes of inactivity.
Insert Key: Fn + Del — Perform the Insert function via the Delete key on the navigation cluster.
Swap Delete / Insert: Fn + I + D (hold 3s) — Swap the default function of the Delete key with Insert. The red LED indicator will flash 3 times to confirm.
